First of all measure the length of the each individual stair and measure the width of the stairway on which the stair carpet has to be installed. Use the utility knife to cut one piece of carpet for each step on the stair. You can cut the piece larger than the measured size so that you can fold it up if it gets long. Put the tack strip on each side of the piece of carpet and use the hammer to nail the tack strips in place. Start with the bottom and at each step make sure that bottom edge of the carpeting strip slips under the flap of the previous strip. Repeat the same steps for the complete stairway. Use the utility knife to cut the extra carpet as a trimming of the stair carpet. Stair carpet should be correctly installed on the stairs otherwise it will look bad and will ruin the beauty of the house instead of making it beautiful which it was supposed to do.
Carpet protectors for stairs are important to protect the stair carpet from the wear and tear and from the environmental factors like dust. Stair carpet is very prone to dust and other things so to save extra efforts of cleaning it one may use the carpet protectors. You can use the plastic carpet protector to protect the stair carpet which is a cheap way for its long life. Stair carpet can also be protected by coating but that doesn’t sound very good or feasible. A normal cheap protector is sufficient, for example you can use the plastic carpet protector which is not only efficient but also cheap and easy to install on the carpet.
